Discipling a 4 Year Old

I just did a google search for "discipling a 4 year old." Can you guess the results . . . "Did you mean disciplining a 4 year old?" I had to chuckle because at this age a lot of that is going on. However, I now have the distinct joy and pleasure of discipling my son.

The boys and I were sitting in the minivan outside of the church. We were waiting for Brandon to join us for a quick lunch at the mall. While waiting, Owen declared that he had asked Jesus into his heart again. How awesome is that! He is loving having Jesus in his heart so much, that he wants some more! I happily explained that you only have to ask Jesus into your heart one time. I was able to assure Owen that Jesus would never leave him. He would always be in his heart. The discussion continued on for awhile.

Brandon hopped into the car and I shared the conversation I had just had with our son. As we pulled out of the church parking lot, we heard Owen say "No one can serve two masters." Owen attends Mom's Day Out at church and his class is learning a bible verse for each letter of the alphabet. They must be up to "N." So, what is it gonna take to disciple a 4 year old? I am not an expert, but right now my plan is to pray for both of my children and continue to grow in my relationship with the Lord so my life can be an example.

As for little Miles, he is a hoot and a half these days. I love his crazy curly hair and his scrunched up nose. He is saying lots of words, although some are in code. He still loves his mom, but thinks dad is more fun! We did reach a special "miles"tone this morning. Miles finally let me use the nail clippers to clip all ten fingers and all ten toes! What a great day!
